TD Ameritrade – Omaha, NE
An Omaha based, national investment firm wanted to consolidate operations into one elite LEED Platinum facility. The result was a new 12-story office tower, attached two-story pavilion, and parking structure to become a signature LEED Platinum building in the heart of Omaha. The building’s unconventional appearance and standout location have generated both controversy and compliments, but TD2’s focus was on making where it sat and what it sat on work for the site, for the client, and for the project’s goals. Managing water, including stormwater, groundwater, or floodwater, connected TD2’s roles and services throughout the project.
TD2 engineers worked with TD Ameritrade and the design team to make their final site configuration work in every way for this massive building complex.
- FIT
- TD2 surveyors determined the selected site’s existing boundaries, topography, floodplain, and utilities.
- With this information, TD2 engineers raised the grade because of the floodplain, recognized the complexities of treating, retaining, and detaining stormwater, and incorporated compact stalls and a parking garage to maximize green space (50% more than required by local zoning ordinances).
- FUNCTION
- TD2 engineers researched and selected a creative mixture of measures and systems for the site to accommodate a campus of this size, over and above requirements.
- RECOGNITION
- TD2’s efforts added valuable points to the LEED Platinum total. (All available points for the Sustainable Sites category plus additional points for regional and exemplary performance.)
